A friend of mine passed this along and I wanted to share it with y'all. (There IS a picture!)

Most of America's populace thinks it very improper to spank children, so I have tried other methods to control our kids when they have one of "those moments".

One that I found very effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride and talk.
They usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our little car ride together.

I've included the photo below of one of my sessions, with our son, in case you would like to use the technique.

Why God Made Mothers

Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.

2. Mostly to clean the house.

3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.

2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.

3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger
parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?

1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in
the world and one dab of mean.

2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use
string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

1. We're related.

2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.

2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty
bossy.

3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

1. His last name.

2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk
on beer?

3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to
chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.

2. She got too old to do anything else with him.

3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?

1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof
ball.

2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the
bed.

3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?

1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.

2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.

3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause
that's who you got to ask if you w ant to sleep over at your friend's.

4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?

1. Mothers don't do spare time.

2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of
plastic surgery.

2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid
of that.

2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did
it and not me.

3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back
of her head.

Alrighty, I've been tryin' to post since Saturday, but things just keep happening.

My mother-in-law is trying to come visit us again, 3 birthdays are about to hit next month with Thanksgiving thrown in between, so I'm preparing ahead a time, and I'm trying to keep up with school, but it's kinda distracting for the youngins (and me) when we keep hearing big machines knocking down trees.....which leads me to what I've been wanting to post about.

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that we're Breaking Ground, we'll here's where it's gonna be.

It may not look like it, but this is over a 150 ft. slope. Somehow they are gonna flip this mountain upside down, flatten it and build a cabin on it.

It's hard for me to visualize all this, but my hubby can see it. I can however show you the view we'll have. (I took these last Tuesday before the construction began.)

It's almost like touching heaven!!!

After many ~~weeks~~ months of waiting, this little guy showed up.

And ever since then they've been digging dirt and clearing trees.

Nothing too exciting has happened yet, but tomorrow the bulldozer is coming and that's when the REAL action is supposed to begin. In the mean time here's a few shots of what they've been doing.

I know it's not much to look at, but I did get some better shots today...I forgot to take pics yesterday:( you'd think I would have learned from my last experience to always have my camera. Hopefully I can update ya'll soon and stop by to say hello. I MISS EVERYONE!!!

An early Christmas gift for you while I unwind

The last couple of weeks have been wonderful/wild all wrapped up in one, so while I take a little blogging break and unwind, I decided to have a contest.

"More of Him" Monday

Diana @ Sunshine on My Shoulders started a new meme last week called "More of Him" Monday. There are 2 wonderful topics to choose from, "Scripture Speaks" or "HIM in My Life". You can read more about "More of Him" Monday HERE!

Usually when our children disobey or fight amongst one another they are sent to the wall. Last month in our small local newspaper my husband found this scripture:

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord Hebrews 12:14.

He cut it out, made a copy of it and taped it to the wall. Now instead of our children just standing on the wall, we have them read the scripture too. I honestly must say, they have been spending less time on the wall and, they are still reading the verse off the wall! I have it on my refrigerator for myself! I must admit, I need the reminder too, not just my children.

Thankful Thursday - Breaking Ground

For almost a year now we have been in the process of trying to have a cabin built.

The first step of course was getting financed. Praise the Lord after many months we were approved. Then we were waiting for all the necessary permits needed to build....

Well, this week we finally got the green light to start grating the area where our cabin is going to be built. So, hopefully in about 2 weeks we'll be breaking ground!

He hath made every thing beautiful in his time. Ecc 3:11

Cow Crossing

I had a bit of a delay coming home today. Apparently someone rammed into our neighbor's fence and their cows went for a stroll. Where's a camera when you need it the most....or at least when you have some time on your hands due to a bunch of cows in the middle of the road.

The Smell of Autumn

Yesterday my husband was mowing the lawn with the children, each one eagerly awaiting their turn. As they cut the grass for the last time this year, I sat on the porch with the the baby :B While sitting there I was enjoying the smell of the freshly cut grass and the crisp autumn breeze passing by. And the smell just brought back so many wonderful memories of fall when I was a child.

I am so thankful my children will finally be able to experience the true autumn season, raking up leave and jumping in....followed by a tick inspection. Warm toasty fires while roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. And hopefully a few camping trips:)

This little stroll down memory lane leads me to a haiku poem I thunk up all by my little old self for Melissa's Haiku Carnival....please, no tomato throwing.

nErVOuS!

My Sister in law/Best Friend in the world is coming Sunday! I'm excited because I LOVE HER SO MUCH!!! We've been friends since I were 4 years old (I guess that gives you an idea how long DH and I have known each other.) We've gone through SO much together. She's always there for me even though we are miles apart. But for some reason every time she comes I feel a little inadequate. Please don't get me wrong, she doesn't do anything directly to make me feel this way, I somehow do it to myself.

I see how her children eat a variety of vegetable and think "I should make my children eat more vegetables."

Her children go to bed at a descent hour, and I say to myself, "I should make sure mine go to bed at a descent hour."

She's got tons of wonderful, creative ideas, and I wonder, "Why can't I think of great ideas like that?"

I know the Lord LOVES us both and created us all different, but I can't stand feeling this way. I mean we live two different lives, she has three children and I have seven, she's settled and we're months away, but I just can't seem to shake it.

I don't know, maybe it's just the thought of 15 people and ONE bathroom rackin' my brain, but I'm always up for a challenge;)

If you don't mind, please say a little prayer for me, so this feeling goes away and I can just enjoy our time together. I really do love our time together and so do the children!!!

I want to start today's Tiny Talk Tuesday with a wee wee bit of motherly advise. Always have a pamper in hand BEFORE changing your baby's diaper.

This weekend as I set my SWEET, INNOCENT, 4 month old darling son on my bed to change him. I undid his dirty diaper to let him air out (which make him very happy) while I reached for a new one. Within those 2 seconds, he pe*d on top of my laptop, leaving a nicely sized puddle there....thank goodness it was closed! (Sorry, no picture, I was in a state of panic, so I wiped it off right away!)

When I told my loving husband about the incident, I noticed he was hiding a little smile.

I know there was no actual talking, but Actions Speak Louder Than Words, yes no?! So I'm thinkin' my baby was was trying to tell me something....

We've All Got a Touch of IT!

I read Karen's post yesterday, Do you have AAADD? I think we ALL have a touch of it, especially if you have children!

I mean today I was filling out a disclaimer for our telephone company and I asked my son what today's date was...."Uhhh....September 11th, your BIRTHDAY!!!" Ok, another DUH! moment for the books.

...Speaking of September 11th a.k.a 9-11 I just want to ask everyone to say a prayer for all people who died and for their families on that terrible day and to all the soldiers.

Thankful Thursday - 8 years old!

I am thankful my son had a wonderful birthday yesterday!

I am thankful Uncle David got to share it with us. Him being there really meant a lot to A!

I am thankful for the family the Lord blessed me with!

I am thankful that my son just fell asleep because I only got 3 hours of sleep last night.

(I was going to share pictures today, but I'm too tired. Maybe I can post some tomorrow...they will be limited because we don't really post pictures of our children on the internet.)

Tiny Talk Tuesday - Sweat Pea?

I was bathing my 2 sons, (4yo and 2yo) and in my cheerful English accent voice, I said,

"Mmmmm....this smells good! Who wants to get bathed with the new soap, and smell like a Sweet Pea?!"

My 4yo: (confused, puzzled, and WORRIED voice) Mommy, Sweet Pee????"

My 2yo didn't say anything, but the look on his face said a whole lot!!!

My Very First Show & Tell!

I've been wanting to participate in Kelli's Show and Tell for quite some time, and today I fnally get to do it!!!

I am going to share something very special to me,
it was made for me by my daughter.

It was intended for me to take to the hospital before the baby was born and use as a diaper bag, but unfortunately it was too small. So I found another purpose for it and she was very happy about it. I carried my Bible in it. It's my Bible Bag! Every time I go to the hospital to have a baby I bring my Bible.....every time I go on vacation I bring my Bible. Now I have something EXTRA SPECIAL to carry it in from someone who is EXTRA SPECIAL to me!

Crazy Busy

Homeschool Open House 2007: How Our Homeschool Jouney Evolved

I am a Christian Homeschool Mom of 7 wonderful blessings. We are going into my 6th homeschooling year. I am currently homeschooling my four oldest children, although my 4yo has eagerly jumping into Hooked on Phonics Level 1.

I started homeschooling my oldest daughter a month before she turned six. My oldest son (4yo at the time) didn't take much of an interest in school, so I just focused on her. I must admit, I didn't do much research before I began, but it was what the Lord guided me to do, homeschool! At the time I didn't know there was such a variety of homeschool styles and curriculum , so I did what I was familiar with, traditional textbook-style. With only homeschooling one child, it wasn't so bad, we did a little bit of everything, math, language arts, science, social studies and art. Near the end of the year, my son perked up and suddenly wanted to do whatever his big sister was doing and so I googled "homeschool curriculum" to see what would pop up.

I knew now that I was getting ready to homeschool two and take care of three little ones, I couldn't just wing it like I did the first year, so I looked into a great, but slightly pricey curriculum, Calvert. The reason I was so hooked on Calvert was because,
A) it was the first in line to show up in my google search
B) it was a highly rated- standard wise (which I thought was the most important thing at the time)
C) everything was laid out for you in their teacher manuals.

So after giving them both the online placement test, I purchased the 1st grade curriculum for my son, and 2nd grade for my daughter, academically they both a year ahead.

At the beginning of the year it went slow, but smooth. I kinda started getting the hang of it are was able to juggle our schedule pretty well, but then something awful happened...so I thought. I was teaching my daughter something in science, (I can't remember what) and my son overheard us. He once again took an interest in what she was doing and wanted to partake in it. Now you may think this is terrible of me, but I tossed the idea of him learning what she was learning away!

"How could they both learn the same thing when he is a year younger?" I argued with myself. So, R did her lessons and J did his. And so it was written and so it was done!

Year 3: Two more additions to our homeschooling year! OY! What am I going to do??? How in the world am I going to manage to homeschool 4 children and take care of a baby, plus do all the other chores and tasks that needed to be done?! Without really researching homeschool curriculum over the summer, I researched the best schoolbooks used in the highly rated public schools since I knew there was no way I could afford to do Calvert again. I did however recycle some of what we had, like the reading, history and science books. I then purchased the best selling phonic workbooks, the best math books, the best science books, you name it, I got it. The main problem still remained, HOW WAS I GOING TO HOMESCHOOL 4 CHILDREN THIS WAY???

I figured out the solution, I'll buy a how to book...for classroom teachers-LOL! Who was I kidding? But I did it anyway, I bought about 3 or 4 "How to Manage Your Classroom" books. Wow, there was some good stuff in there, one problem, a lot of the suggestions were based on HOMEWORK! So I took some notes on the suggestions I could actually do and tossed the others aside.

Not even a month later I was STRESSED O-U-T OUT! On top of that, I was pregnant again. So we took a break from school--a LOOOONG break. I wasn't going to do any school until after baby #6 was born.

After V was born I decided to start back up after the New Year (V was born a couple of days before Christmas.) Things still weren't like I planned, we hit a few bumps here and there. Finally summer came! They did not complete a full year, but I wasn't too worried, because they were a year ahead. By Florida law they had to be evaluated yearly and they passed, so I was happy, but not satisfied.

During th summer, I did a LOT of praying and asked the Lord to guide me what to do. I finally decided to google everything and anything homeschool. That's when I came across the term "Unit Study!" I felt like I had breathed a breath of fresh air.

I finally found a method that incorporated all my children PLUS, it integrated different subjects! WOW, just what I needed! I came across many different unit study programs. The 3 main ones I looked into was: Weaver, Konos, and Heart of Wisdom.

All of them were great, but I had to decide which one I was going to use. I knew I wanted something Bible-based, all of them were, so that made the decision even harder. I have to say, Weaver was my top choice in the beginning, but at the time I couldn't afford it due to a family situation that had unfortunately happened. A family member had gotten into a car accident. Praise the Lord everything turned out OK, but she needed attention and the fact that she was now living with us meant we needed to cutback in certain areas.

I then turned to Konos, another great curriculum! (If you use or are going to use Konos, you can find the Konos Queen HERE!)I asked a friend about it and she gave me one of the Konos Volumes. The only problem was the book was an older version and it had been used...I mean used! Notes were written in it, pages were torn out and the book list was outdated. I later found out that the book was not originally hers. I tell you, it did come in handy though, I finally got to see what this whole unit study thing was all about. (We do use some Konos units.)

There was one final unit study to look into which happened to be the one I chose, Heart of Wisdom. The reasons I chose HOW:

It was Bible-based
It was in an e-book format (I had enough homeschool books lying around the house)
It fit within our homeschool budget
I could buy the units one at a time
PLUS, I really liked the HOW teaching approach! (I even bought the Book)

We began our 4th year in October. Our schooling was a little more relaxed, but I still stumbled along the way. I needed help, this was new to me and I needed some advice, but I was too nervous to ask, so I joined the HOW forums. They helped a little, but I still needed something more.

One of the ladies from the forum blogged at Homeschoolblogger. At the time, the word blog was foreign to me. Anyway, I poked around HSB, didn't have a clue what I was doing...then left.

I still struggled slightly with the unit study concept, so in late November 2005 I decided to give Homeschoolblogger another go. This time I read comments and started going to different blogs and found mothers who were in the same boat as me. I couldn't believe I wasn't the only one struggling! I guess sometimes we imagine that no one else could possibly be going through what we are going through, but there are. I even emailed some people asking for help--emailing was another new thing for me at the time. EVERYONE was extremely helpful!

I began to go everywhere and read everything and anything that I could, I even saw that people were mix and matching their curriculum--WHAT?! I thought that was unheard of, taking a little bit of this from one program and mixing it with that. Not only that, some would buy one Math program for one child and another math program for another child--How SHOCKING! OK, so I was a little naive, sue me.

This made me really look at each one of my children and see how they comprehended learning the best. I knew I needed a little something more, but I couldn't go out buying everything. That's when I came across another mom's blog who was also using Heart of Wisdom. She introduced me to Ambleside Online, a FREE online curriculum using the Charlotte Mason method (Robin -the HOW founder- intertwines this method of learning with hers.)

Ambleside Online was a true blessing! They have a wonderful selection of literature books available online for FREE!!! BUT, before I was going to just jump into another homeschool curriculum, I wanted to test it out. So, for one week we did the AO schedule. The children LOVED it! It was relaxing, it fit into our schedule and best of all, we were all learning! This was the first time in 4 years that I actually felt like I was a true homeschool mom! I know that may sound weird to some of you, but to others parents, I think you know exactly how I felt.

Fast forward to our 5th homeschool year (now). We started this school year off with a field trip/vacation to NC- where I currently live. To make a long story short, while we were there (here) we planned to move by early next year. I also discovered I was pregnant with baby #7!

When we got home (in FL) the packing began. We had to do more than just packing though, we had a little farm, with sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits, dogs, cats, a donkey and a horse. Sadly we had to find a new home for our pets. Thankfully we found a home for them where they would not be butchered. My aunt and uncle are taking care of the horse and donkey until we can move them up here....Anyway, my point is, we did a lot of unschooling.

Since we were not going to be with the animals much longer, our schooling focused a lot on them.

Now that we're moved, we are a tad behind, but we've been doing school throughout the summer. Since I just had a baby, our homeschool this coming year is going to have to be flexible, semi-structured, but definitely flexible. Plus, there are upcoming events happening that are going to make some of our homeschooling days even more challenging. (I plan to blog about those events soon, until then please stay tuned.)

I have listed the curriculum we are using on my sidebar with links, so your welcome to have a look see. Plus in our everyday life we are learning lessons. One thing that we do that isn't listed is, I have them do dinners on the weekend which we classify as school. They also really enjoy making dinner when guest come too, which is a HUGE help for me, while they tend to the kitchen, I can tidy up the house.

As far as where we homeschool, right now we just do it around the house, and outside, but in FL we had an empty shed that my loving DH converted into a schoolroom for us. This is one thing we definitely miss in our homeschool day, Plus, it's kinda sad that all the hard work he put into just to make our homeschool day easier was left behind. He's always thinking of other, oh I LOVE that man!!!

As far as any advise I to give, I'd have to say first PRAY!!! Then if you can do some research, and don't be afraid to ask questions. If you don't have a local support group ask us here in Bloggy Land, there are many of us out there willing to help you the best we can.

Real Learning- I have just begun to read this, but so far the little I've read is great!

When choosing a curriculum, try not get overwhelmed and don't worry about picking the highest rated, most expensive curriculum out there, they are all good, believe me, I tried them all...just kidding. Just choose the best one for your family, of course there will be some trial and error, but the Lord will guide you to which one is right, and when you find it, you'll love the feeling.

The last bit of advise I have to give, but definitely a key point, DON'T STRESS!!!! Enjoy your Homeschool adventure and most important, ENJOY YOUR FAMILY!!! Make your homeschool years loving and memorable!

My Little Hobby

I wanted to originally do a Show & Tell, but couldn't find the wire to my camera to upload something my....well, something, hopefully you'll see next week. Instead I'm going to share a little hobby of mine. I've fiddled around making graphics for a few of my HSB friends. Although I like tinkering with graphics, I did NOT do my own blog, Dawn @ Barefoot Blogs did it for me when I moved to Blogger. I decided to let a REAL designer do it for me after just having a baby. I didn't want to figure out Blogger's html lingO. So Dawn pampered me and I LOVE my blog, I never could have done such a fine of a job that she did. Thank you Dawn!!!

My love for graphic making all began when there was a button making contest called BlubberBloggers over @ HSB, so here is my very first graphic:

Then I started tinkering with graphics for my own blog, this is not the first one I did, but I didn't know how to do a screen shot at the time.

After making graphics for my blog, I wanted to make some for others, because I enjoyed it so much. (Unfortunately I can't show you the first one I did for Michelle which was a "Go Dog Go" theme that I loved, she no longer has it up. She redid her own blog and I think she did a GREAT job!!!

There's a nice little blog virus lurking in Bloggy Land, if you notice your site or someone elses taking a year and a day to load there maybe a script d5d1.com in your template, if so DELETE IT (ONLY what I highlighted in RED)!! It looks something like this:

your code, then

Don't delete the head or body, JUST the scripts!!!

To find it press Ctrl + F, type d5d1 and it should highlight.

Also, if you go to someone's blog that does have it, I hate to say this, but do not comment. Try to find a way to let them know, because you could get this virus, even if you deleted it from your blog already, supposedly you can get it again.

I am thankful that my family allowed time while I was working on this project and helping to get it up and running.

The next day he was browsing in DH's office and found a new finger paints I just got from the Dollar Store.

V: Mommy look what I found!

Me: What?!

V: (Holding up the finger paints) I haven't seen these in ages!

Toilet Flushing Phase

What do you do when there are 8 potty trained people, one bathroom and a broken toilet?

Hope for best?!

My 2yo has been going through the "Toilet Flushing Phase." First it was his pamper, then a K'nex wheel and now the toilet paper holder.

Unfortunately we didn't catch him in time and now toilet paper holder is stuck! Now our ONLY toilet won't flush properly. Hopefully we can fix it and FAST! With the weekend coming I don't think it'll be easy to get a plumber out here.

Well, I'm headed off to Ace to buy a snake.

I an thankful for the four seasons. I have not been able to experience them for over 10 years living in Florida and now my children are able to experience them too.

I am thankful for the beautiful landscape that the LORD made. I never appreciated it so much until the first time I visited here (North Carolina). The mountains, trees, flowers, everything is gorgeous!

I am thankful for the property that the LORD allowed us to buy. It was a miracle we were able to get it. We came here for only a 2 week visit looking for some property and the last 3 days we were able to find it. It wasn't even on the market yet. This was definitely the Lord's doing!

I'm thankful today is another beautiful day, because I plan to spend it outside with my children today, so I'll end my list there and come by later to visit your blogs.

Hooked on NEST Family

I don't know if any of you have ever heard of NEST Family, but they are wonderful Christian videos and Bible stories for all ages. Well, I have to tell you about what I just ordered from them! (This purchase can be completely justified, it's for school!)

Recently NEST teamed up with Hooked on Phonics (which I use for my phonics curriculum thanks to my aunt) and created Hooked on Bible Stories. I've been wanting to get this for sometime and I promised myself I wouldn't get it until next school year. Well, I guess waiting paid off because, normally it retails for $99.99, but it's on sale for $79.99! WOOHOO!

(Note to hubby) Okay, no more purchases this week Honey, I promise!

The other day my 9yo DS was reading about the Loch Ness Monster. Well I'm a big Nessie fan, she's always fascinated me. A HUGE monster out there, thousands claiming to have seen her and yet no physical evidence....not until they supposedly caught her on tape. Watch and see for yourself.

Alycia @ Where My Treasures Are. I know she's already received this, but I have to honor her with it again. She is a BEAUTIFUL MOTHER who appreciates all that the LORD gives her and her LOVE still shines with God's Prefect Plan. She touched my heart and many others last week with her tribute to her daughter Hannah Grace. Happy Birthday Hannah! I want to thank her for the courage it took her to share those personal moments in her life. I know she is someone who will continue to reach out and touch others' hearts as she did mine.

Leigh Ann @ Living to Learn & Learning to Live - I love that title by the way, She truly understands the meaning, "It is better to give than to receive." For 10 days she gave gifts away in honor of her birthday. She wanted to celebrate and share her happiness with others that the Lord has placed her on this earth for 32 years. What a WONDERFUL woman she is and I'm sure all of you out there can agree.

~Ginger @ Just a Thought is a very INSPIRING mother and woman. I especially enjoy reading her entries about her BEAUTIFUL daughters & the close relationship she has with them! I believe she has a close relationship with her daughters because, she has a close relationship with CHRIST and her FAITH in HIM is STRONG! I pray that I can give my children the love that the LORD wants me to give them so that when my children are grown, I can share the same loving relationship Ginger shares with her children.

Misty @ Adventuring with 3 Boyz has gone through some physical and spirital trials lately. She has been looking at her family from the outside for the last couple of weeks. Another SWEET woman who enlighten me on the same post was MorningSong, She has 2 PRECIOUS children and is seeking to raise them in the way of the LORD. In a lot of ways I feel like we go through similar trials with our children when I read her posts. Although I don't know her that well, but she portrays to be a sincere women who LOVES and GLORIFIES our LORD! And because of this, I believe He delivered her to my blog yesterday. Thank you MorningSong for enlightening me too, your comment also made me shed some tears.

I also want to give this award not to just one person, but a family that has Blessed me, the Dixon Family. I have had the honor on more than one occasion to speak with this family on the phone and through Instant Messaging many times. They are a joy to talk to. Jacque Dixon is a Christian homeschool mother of 8. Her LOVE is FAITHFUL to the LORD and she has successfully reflected that love through her 8 LOVING C H I L D R E N! Thankful Thursday - Patience

I just wrote a post on patience, and it made me realize how thankful I am that my Lord, Jesus Christ is patient with me.

I'm thankful that for my DH patience, like I stated below, he is the most patient person I know. I I LOVE him for it!

And I'm thankful for my children's patience, although my time is spread, they are still loving and understanding children! Because of them I am realizing that I need to be patient just as much, or if not more than them.

I am trying to teach my children lessons I have trouble learning myself, the main one PATIENCE! When I want my children to do something and they don't do it right away I sometime get frustrated and yet when they would like me to do something and repetitively ask I tell them they have to be patient! But can I truly ask that of them when I am a poor example? Truly I believe they have more patience then I do. They DEFINITELY learn it from DH! I don't know anyone who is more patient then him.

My children are WONDERFUL and they are PATIENT, they are very UNDERSTANDING and I LOVE them SO much!!! (Trying not to short circuit my keyboard with my tears.)

Same topic, but I've been emotionally sidetracked, please bear with me.

As some of you may know, I have 7 children and each time I have another baby it takes time away from the older one(s) and yet they still are loving, caring and considerate of one another, even if they do fight half of the day, but they are brothers and sister, it's gonna happen. Although I understand this, I cannot relate.

I'm the youngest of 3, my brother is 9 years older than me and my sister is 8 years older, plus they moved to my dad's when they were about 13 and 14. So basically I was an only child, never had to worry about waiting to spend time with my mother, (when she wasn't working) I had her all to myself.

Are my children being impatient, or striving to be loved by me. Maybe they feel that time has been taken from them and they are trying to get it back in any way or form, even if that means coming and asking me the same question over again.

I'm not talking about the obvious impatient questions like, "Can I play GameCube now? Is dinner ready.....is it ready now? I'm talking about when they keep asking me if I'm ready to come outside when I'm in the middle of doing dishes, or when they want to show me something while I'm putting the baby to sleep.

Please pray for me to have more patience, so that I can be an example for my children. After all, our Heavenly Father is patient with me, and LOVE is PATIENT!

Mid-Year Resolution

I was reading THIS POST @ Just Mom's Musings the other day and she got me thinking, "What have I accomplished this year?" I know one thing on my New Year's Resolution list was to become more organized, but I can't even find the journal that I wrote it in, therefore I'm blogging a Mid-Year Resolution and if any of you want to join me, please be my guest.

1. Grow closer to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

2. Spend more individual time with my children.
I feel they need it with the new baby taking up a lot of my time now.

3. Be more patient and understanding.

4. Become more organized; make weekly dinner menus and school schedules.
I notice when I have both of these things done, the week runs more smoothly.

5. Keep up with the laundry and house cleaning...I'm not expecting miracles.

6. Eat healthier foods and less Nutter Butters.

7. Try to ~~blog~~ walk at least 3-4 times a week.

I pray that the Lord will guide me what needs to be accomplished in His time and not mine. That He will direct me in all things. And when I do them, I do them with happiness and joy in my heart. ~Amen.

Thankful Thursday - I'm Rich!

Crack Me Up Friday - Animal Classifacation

I read THIS post over at Amanda's and it reminded me of something my oldest son said when I was teaching my children about animal classification. But, since she titled hers "Crack Me Up Friday", I decided to patiently wait until today to post it.

Anyway, I was teaching my DC about different animal classification; amphibians, reptiles, etc. When I got to mammals I said, "All mammals produce milk and..."

My oldest DS (who was, I think 7 at the time) interrupted me and EAGER to correct me he boldly stated,

"Not all mammals!"

"Huh?!"

"I'm a mammal and I don't produce milk."

OK, so I can sometimes be wrong too. Which Law is that Just Mom?

The Icing on the Cake

Yesterday for Father's Day I attempted to make a Father's Day cake. Usually I grease the cake pans and then line them with parchment paper, but we were out of parchment paper, so I tried wax paper instead...HUGE MISTAKE! When I tried to remove the cake from the cake pans, they split and crumbled.

Trying not to get discouraged, I started to making the icing. V (my 2yo DS) comes in the kitchen eager to help.

V: "Mommy, can I help you mix?"

Me: "Sure Sweetie!"

So, we take turns mixing the icing until it was time to frost the cake.

V: "Mommy, can I help dec'rate the cake?"

Me: "Oh Sweetheart, let Mommy do it PLEASE. After I'm done you can put the sprinkles on though."

V: "K Mommy!"

Under better circumstances I would have let him help, but instead he just sat watching me patiently while I was literally patching the cakes together and I wasn't very successful.

Anyway, I was done! Of course there was icing all over my fingers. As I approach the sink to wash my icing filled hands, I take a quick lick before turning on the water.

That was it, V stood on the chair reaching for the almost empty icing bowl, looking at me with his smiling bright eyes nodding his head and then said, "Mommy can I help you lick the bowl?!"

I was tickled pink, "Mommy can I help lick the bowl?" so of course I OKed it, which was another mistake. Somehow it seemed like he was licking non-stop, but I knew there was hardly anything in the bowl.

Well, as patient as he was waiting while I frosted the cake and as cute as it was asking if he could help lick the bowl (which btw, I wasn't licking) the licking must come to an end!

Me: (gently tried to tug the bowl away) "Alright Sweetie, that's enough."

V: (nodding his head yes and tugging back) "Mommy, can I help you lick the bowl?"

Me: (still tugging at the bowl) "Mommy is done, you don't need to lick the bowl anymore."

V: (nodding head and tugging) "Mommy, can I help you lick the bowl?"

Me: (one last gentle tug) "No, no more licking the bowl, we're done."

V: (releasing the bowl) "OK Mommy, thank you for letting me help you lick the bowl."

Our tug of war match was over and it was time to serve the most embarrassing looking Father's Day cake ever. I must admit though, it looked awful, but it tasted great, especially the icing on the cake.

I don't know what it is, but when my blog looks purdy, I seem more organized. I get more things done and blogging seems so much more enjoyable. OK, that sounds strange I know, but what can I say, ummm...I'm strange?!

Computer Woes, Rashes, and Homeschooling

I haven't been able to blog in a while because, I've been having some troubles with my laptop, but fortunately I was able to get a new one.

As far as my DC, everyone is better, but they now have some kind of rash that isn't poison ivy or poison oak, but is making them itch...and just to reassure you, it isn't chicken pox!

As far as homeschooling goes, we are slowly but surely getting back into it. I have to say, they are doing really good considering we haven't been able to do it for so long. I just pray we'll be able to stick with it.

I think I'll stop rambling and go to bed now.

No Kissing Allowed

Can somebody, anybody tell me how not to kiss my 2 weeks and 2 days old baby boy? This is very depressing for me and I am litterally trying not to cry.

Here's how it all began, 2 weeks ago we were having gorgeous Springy days. Then last week there was a change in the weather, but N and M claimed they weren't cold, so (kicking myself now) I didn't hound them to put on their jackets. Sure enough they began to get sore throats and a slight fever. Thank goodness it lasted only 2-3 days, but when N got better R got it and the chain reaction began...Now I have it.

I got a slight sore throat and a pounding headache. I don't think I have it to as bad as M (she got it the wosrt) but I just PRAY H (my 2 week-old son who I am nursing) doesn't get it. So please, if you can say a little prayer I'd appreciate it.

My New Blog Home

I've been pondering for a month whether I should come over here. My HSB blog has been giving some problems so I'll attempt to blog here when time allows.

For those of you that don't know me...which is probably most of you, let me introduce myself.
My name is Amber, I'm a homeschool mother - going on 6 years this fall. I just moved to North Carolina in February and just became a mother of seven a little over a week ago.

Now, since you are slightly up to speed, I'll post the same thing here that I just posted at my other blog:

With my PRECIOUS NEW BLESSING, things are UPSIDE DOWN....well, not really, but a little behind maybe, (coughing) - especially school. I'm not planning to rush back into it or anything, but I feel I'm WAY behind, and considering I was slightly behind before we moved I'm trying not to go into panic mode.

I know all I need to do is "Trust in the Lord" and He will give me the understanding of what I need to do. I also know that the Lord also wants us to ask for help when we need it. So, I'm asking, if any of you ladies have any advice for me I'd greatly appreciate it.
